İş Hayatındaki Pusulam...

Çocukken bir büyüğümüzün elimize bir eşya tutuşturup "Buna gözün gibi bak, bu sana emanet" dediği o anı hatırlarım. O an, eşyanın maddi değerinden çok, bize duyulan güvenin ve yüklenen sorumluluğun ağırlığını hissederdik. İşte benim iş hayatındaki tüm felsefem, o çocukluk anındaki saf ve sarsılmaz sorumluluk duygusu üzerine kuruludur.

Yıllar içinde anladım ki, iş dünyasında da her şey bir "emanet" ile başlar: Bir yatırımcının umutları, bir arsa sahibinin mirası, bir müşterinin ailesinin huzuru ve bir yol arkadaşının geleceği... Mesele, bu sayısız emanete layık olabilmektir.

Bu felsefe, bir gecede oluşmadı. 1983'te Sivas'ta başlayan ve her durağında yeni bir sorumluluk dersi öğrendiğim bir yolculuğun eseri. Anadolu Üniversitesi İktisat Bölümü'nde, o emanetlerin içinde bulunduğu büyük ekonomik sistemi anlamayı öğrendim. Ardından MBA ve İşletme Yönetimi alanındaki doktora çalışmalarımda, o emanetleri koruyacak sağlam ve sürdürülebilir yapıların nasıl kurulacağını araştırdım. Ancak rakamların ve stratejilerin ötesinde, her şeyin merkezinde 'insan' vardı.

Bu merak, beni ODTÜ Sağlık Bilgi Sistemleri Uzmanlığı'ndan, hala burslu bir öğrenci olarak devam ettiğim Okan Üniversitesi İç Mimarlık Bölümü'ne kadar uzanan farklı disiplinleri keşfetmeye itti. Çünkü bir yatırımın finansal sağlığı kadar, o yatırımın dokunduğu bir insanın ruhsal sağlığı ve bir mekanın estetiği de aynı derecede önemliydi.

Helmann, benim için tüm bu akademik ve felsefi birikimi hayata geçirdiğim, o 'emanet' bilinciyle eserler ürettiğim bir platform oldu.

Ancak bu 'emanet' bilinci ve 'vefa borcu' sadece kendi şirketimle sınırlı kalamazdı. Ülkemizin bayrağını uluslararası arenada dalgalandırdığım DEİK'teki (Dış Ekonomik İlişkiler Kurulu) Yurtdışı Yatırımlar Konseyi ve İrlanda, Meksika, Litvanya Ülke Masaları'ndaki görevlerim, bu vefa borcunu ödeme vesilemdir. GYODER, İNDER gibi sektörümüzün en saygın kuruluşlarındaki rollerim ise, sadece kendimiz için değil, sektörümüzün tamamı için daha iyi ve daha güvenilir standartlar yaratma arzumun bir parçasıdır.

Günümüzün hızlı rekabet dünyasında bu felsefeyle hareket etmek, belki de en zorlu yoldur. Kısa vadeli kazançlardan vazgeçmeyi, daha fazla sabretmeyi ve her zaman doğru olanı yapmayı gerektirir.

Ancak günün sonunda geriye dönüp baktığımda anlıyorum ki, gerçek zenginlik, kasadaki rakamlar değil; kazanılan güvendir. Yıllar sonra bir yatırımcının, bir dostun gözlerinin içine baktığınızda gördüğünüz o "İyi ki..." ifadesidir.

En büyük miras, arkada bırakılan eserlerden çok, o eserlerin ardında bıraktığı bu sarsılmaz güvendir. Benim pusulam budur ve yolculuğum, bu emanete layık kalma çabasından ibarettir.

My Compass in Business: The Sacred Trust

I still remember a moment from my childhood, when an elder would place an object in my hands and say, "Look after this as you would your own eyes; it is entrusted to you." In that moment, what I felt was not the material value of the object, but the immense weight of the trust placed in me and the responsibility it carried. My entire philosophy in business is built upon that pure and unwavering sense of duty from my childhood.

Over the years, I have come to understand that in the world of business, too, everything begins with a sacred trust: an investor’s hopes, a landowner’s heritage, a customer’s family peace, and a colleague’s future… The real challenge is to be worthy of these countless trusts.

This philosophy was not born overnight. It is the product of a journey that began in Sivas in 1983, a journey where I learned a new lesson in responsibility at every turn. At Anadolu University's Faculty of Economics, I learned to understand the grand economic system in which these trusts exist. Later, during my MBA and doctoral studies in Business Administration, I researched how to build the strong, sustainable structures that would protect them. But beyond the numbers and strategies, I saw that at the center of everything was the human being.

This curiosity led me to explore diverse disciplines, from a Health Information Systems Specialization at ODTÜ (METU) to my current studies as a scholarship student in the Interior Architecture Department at Okan University. I realized that the financial health of an investment was just as important as the spiritual health of the person it touches and the aesthetic of the space it creates.

My role as the Chairman of the Board at Helmann Construction became the platform where I could bring all this academic and philosophical knowledge to life, creating works with that deep sense of 'sacred trust'.

However, this sense of trust and my 'debt of honor' could not be limited to my own company. My duties at DEİK (Foreign Economic Relations Board), where I have the privilege of representing our country's flag on the Board of Foreign Investments and on the Country Desks for Ireland, Mexico, and Lithuania, are my way of repaying this debt. My roles in our industry's most respected organizations, such as GYODER and İNDER, are part of my desire to create better, more reliable standards not just for ourselves, but for our entire sector.

In today's fast-paced, competitive world, operating with this philosophy is perhaps the most challenging path. It requires forgoing short-term gains, being more patient, working harder, and always doing what is right.

But when I look back at the end of the day, I understand that true wealth is not the numbers in an account, but the trust that is earned. It is the "I'm glad I did" expression you see in the eyes of an investor, a friend, years later.

The greatest legacy is not the structures left behind, but the unwavering trust they represent. This is my compass, and my journey is simply an effort to remain worthy of this sacred trust.
